My husband and spent a single night camping in Wadi Rum on a road trip through Jordan. We asked some locals to drop us off at a camping spot, and pick us up the next morning. Lovely, we thought!

Turns out that just being in the middle of the desert doesn't meant that you are off the beaten path. Sure, we were the only people at our campsite & we had an absolutely beautiful view, but we were woken up all night as Bedouins drove through the sand to a nearby village!

Still, I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
