Larry, if you take your family with you I'd recommend geocashing for a fun adventure. A network of people hide "treasures" for other geocashers to uncover using a GPS and often times than not, treasure-hunt like clues.

New Zealand was my backdrop:

It's definitely like a modern treasure-hunt fit to keep your kids excited and thrilled.

I agree with you Cuzco has one of the finest walk in the world. When I traveled to this place, I had the opportunity to do the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and I was impressed by the beauty of the area, is amazing. I also could shared with the people who live there. That way I learned most of their customs and traditions. For me, this trip would have not been possible without the help of the travel agency I hired, TurPeru who organized all my activities in Cuzco and made my stay more pleasant. I recommend you, if you want more information the web is www.turperu.com.pe
