Párga

Párga is a very attractive little resort town on the coast of Epirus on the Greek mainland. It’s very similar to the kind of town you find throughout the Greek islands, and it has become a popular visitor destination. It’s situated across the Ionian Sea from the island of Paxos, and southern Corfu can also be seen from Párga. Its houses cluster near a headland on which stands a 16th-century Venetian fortress, with bays on either side. Párga is a very attractive little resort town on the coast of Epirus on the Greek mainland. It’s very similar to the kind of town you find throughout the Greek islands, and it has become a popular visitor destination. It’s situated across the Ionian Sea from the island of Paxos, and southern Corfu can also be seen from Párga. Its houses cluster near a headland on which stands a 16th-century Venetian fortress, with bays on either side. There are also other bathing beaches a short walk away, and a number of appealing fish restaurants near the waterfront. Apart from its own undoubted charms, Párga is also popular as it provides a gateway to a number of attractions along the coast here, such as the remains of ancient Kassópi, the ruins of Nikópolis, the Zálongo Monastery, and the very strange and haunting Nekromanteion at Ephyra. The fascinating city of Ioánnina is only a 90-minute drive distant, passing the ruins of ancient Dodóni on the way, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the region.
