Overview
Capri is famous for being an island of romance, and the many couples sitting at cafes in the Piazzetta overlooking the aqua blue sea certainly support this theme. Capri is best enjoyed as a day trip from the nearby Amalfi Coast, but splurging for a night for a hotel on the island can be a good way to escape the mobs of day-trippers for a more romantic evening. To enjoy sweeping views of the sea and dramatic rock formations of Capri, stroll to the Arco Naturale and the Beledere di Tragara, then stop for a quiet visit to the Giardini di Augusto gardens for a romantic setting. To enjoy sweeping views of the sea and dramatic rock formations of Capri, stroll to the Arco Naturale and the Beledere di Tragara, then stop for a quiet visit to the Giardini di Augusto gardens for a romantic setting. For a change of pace, visit the more traditional Anacapri town on the other side of the island for their market and small cafes. Be sure to catch a boat to visit the Blue Grotto cave, a unique geological experience. Early morning visits can be best to avoid some off the crush of of ferry passengers arriving for a mid-day trip. The beginning and end of summer are the best times to visit to still enjoy seaside warmth while missing some of the July-August crowds.
