St. Moritz is the terminus for two of the world’s most celebrated train rides, the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express. Both are breathtaking journeys over the lofty Alpine passes. The lakes of Sils and Silvaplana offer world-class windsurfing action. Beyond the spectacular Maloja Pass lies the Italian-speaking Bregaglia region and the postcard-perfect village of Soglio. In the Lower Engadin, you’ll find the vast Swiss National Park, where summer hikers may encounter a herd of steinbock, the majestic ibex that symbolize the canton Graubunden. The rustic, pastel-shaded masonry of the Engadiner architectural style is on display in villages like Scuol, the home of famous thermal baths. Nearby is the magnificent Castle Tarasp. If the weather is bad, check out the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz, or spend some time window shopping in the exclusive boutiques.
