Overview

Cozumel - the Yucatán's prime Caribbean real estate - is for those who like to linger underwater with Technicolor fish, coral and other marine life large and small. The island is known as one of the world's best scuba diving spots (the snorkeling is top notch too), boasting 100 stellar dive sites, most only a couple of miles offshore. As with all real estate, the reason Cozumel is so attractive is location, location, location: the entire Yucatán Peninsula is a gigantic limestone shelf that dives into the Caribbean Sea, where it becomes a barrier reef (the longest in the hemisphere and one of the longest in the world), rich ...

As with all real estate, the reason Cozumel is so attractive is location, location, location: the entire Yucatán Peninsula is a gigantic limestone shelf that dives into the Caribbean Sea, where it becomes a barrier reef (the longest in the hemisphere and one of the longest in the world), rich with life. Protection of the reef is key to the island's beauty, and the National Marine Park Arrecifes de Cozumel which rings Cozumel aims to maintain the marine diversity. Visitors can play their part by paddling lightly and observing standards of responsible diving and patronizing dive operators who do so as well - never anchoring on a reef, collecting coral, or disturbing marine life, carrying out trash, and the like. Cozumel is a terrific spot to get certified for scuba, with excellent conditions and comfortable pricing. Ashore, Cozumel is a laid back island where cycling and exploring on foot, followed by sunset cocktails and a fresh seafood dinner, keep visitors relaxed and happy.
