Overview

Nestled in a valley of the Adirondack Mountains is the village of Saranac Lake. Rock climbers will love the mountains of the Cascade Lakes and Wilmington Notch regions. The waterways around the area offer good trout and bass fishing.

You can also try geocaching (searching for treasures hidden by others with a GPS device), or simply enjoy views of the mountains on the Adirondack Scenic Railway, or step back in time to 1887 with a visit to the cottage where Robert Louis Stevenson and his family lived. Walk the nature trails and view live animals at the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. The Adirondack Museum has numerous exhibits and buildings detailing the area’s history.
