Stratton Mountain is a self-contained resort with top-rated downhill skiing, cross-country, boarding, tubing, snowmobiling and even sleigh rides, at Sun Bowl Ranch. The 14 lifts that take skiers and riders to the 2003 feet of vertical include a high-speed base-to-summit gondola and four six-passenger lifts.

Magic Mountain offers classic downhill skiing, riding and tubing across 135 acres of natural ski terrain where guests can ski and ride on 45-degree trails and gentle cruising runs, or ski off-piste through the woods.

The meadows below Robert Todd Lincoln's Hildene welcome cross-country skiers and snowshoers at the Nordic Center, with nine miles of ski trails with varying levels of difficulty, along with rentals of both skis and snowshoes. Wild Wings Ski Touring Center in nearby Peru enjoys a location in a “snow pocket” that often has snow on its 15 miles of groomed trails when others have run out. Miles of snowmobile trails lead through the Green Mountain National Forest, part of the state’s VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) system.
