The literate community has more independent bookstores than Berkeley — and even a fun-filled festival to honor their favorite reads. Galleries and organic eateries housed in restored Victorians, plush bed and breakfasts that rewind you to 1872, a thriving theater scene and locals who chat you up over locally harvested Zinfandel promise to keep you entertained long after the sun sets.
