Steamboat Springs is one of Colorado's many world-class ski areas, but few of the town's winter tourists know Norwegian Carl Howelsen basically invented the entire industry here in 1912. Located in the Yampa River Valley, Steamboat has some of the most awesome Rocky Mountain views in Summit County. For skiers, Steamboat's most famous quality is its Champagne Powder, a snowpack so fluffy and crystal-y that the resort actually trademarked the term. After a day on the slopes, check out the Strawberry Hot Springs, at which adult guests can bring their own beverages.
