Three museums are must sees: Winterthur, the Brandywine River Museum, and Nemours Mansion. Winterthur was the home of Henry Francis du Pont. Housed here is the Du Pont family’s world-renowned collection of American arts and crafts. The Brandywine River Museum is dedicated to three generations of America’s most prolific artists, the Wyeths: N.C. Wyeth, his son Andrew, and grandson Jamie. Not only will you see their art works, you can tour the Wyeth family home and N.C.’s studio. Nemours Mansion was home to another du Pont, Alfred I. du Pont. The mansion’s 102 rooms are filled with antiques, rare oriental rugs and paintings dating back to the 15th century. The surrounding 300 acres are laid out in stunning French style gardens.
