This is lovely, charming, whimsical Savannah, one of the most architecturally interesting cities in the U.S. Perched along the banks of the Savannah River, Savannah's biggest attraction is the city itself. You can easily spend hours sitting on a park bench, watching the world go by. There goes the businessman in his seersucker suit, there go the debutantes buying dresses for the ball, there's a horse-drawn carriage, there's a walking tour of all the places mentioned in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. When you tire of sitting, venture down to the Riverfront and wander among the shops and restaurants, or take in one of the town's excellent museums. At night, eat your heart out at Lady & Sons or anther of Savannah's legendary restaurants. When you're ready for recreation, head to the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge or to the beaches at nearby Tybee Island. Enjoy, relax, and Savannah will reveal her charms.
