The area is exceptionally scenic, with a number of original covered bridges. East of town, Landis Valley Museum is an enchanting authentic farm museum that chronicles life in the last few centuries. Down the Susquehana River, the town of Columbia is home to the exceptional Watch and Clock Museum — no dusty tickers here, but rooms of amazing time-keeping instruments. One of the clocks is a Monumental — eight feet tall with a series of marching and whirling figures that present themselves at various times of day. Monumentals were “traveling show” clocks to be taken from town to town.
