Special events such as the annual South Carolina Half Iron-Man Competition every fall are popular, as are living history encampments, Revolutionary War celebrations, and guided hikes at nearby Musgrove Mill State Historic Site. The state recreation area can be reached via Interstate 26 and highway 702.
