Created in 1945, Paris Landing State Park was named for a steamboat and freight landing on the Tennessee River. Once an important shipping spot in the 1800s, the landing helped provide goods for new settlements in the region. Not surprisingly, the site afforded good access along the Tennessee River. Today, it is a recreation treasure known for its natural beauty, water sports, golf, wildlife and other attractions. Once an important shipping spot in the 1800s, the landing helped provide goods for new settlements in the region. Not surprisingly, the site afforded good access along the Tennessee River. Today, it is a recreation treasure known for its natural beauty, water sports, golf, wildlife and other attractions. Located on the western shore of the Tennessee River, the 841-acre park sits on the widest part of Kentucky Lake. A full-service marina and two fishing piers help visitors get the most out of a day of fishing. Kentucky Lake and Tennessee River are known for more than 100 species of fresh water fish. Crappie, bass, catfish, sauger, walleye, bluegills, stripers and more are waiting for expert anglers with state-of-the-art gear and beginners with cane poles. Not surprisingly, some mighty big fishing tournaments are staged here.

For golfers, Paris Landing has a beautiful and challenging Par 72, 18-hole course with bent-grass greens. A park pro shop and snack bar offers golfing supplies, lessons, rental clubs and carts. An Olympic-size swimming pool along with a kiddie pool is open from Memorial Day to the first week in August. Along with lifeguards on duty, the pool has more than 150 sun loungers, a white-sand beach volleyball court, snack bar and two diving boards. Kentucky Lake also has a swimming area and beach but no lifeguards. The Paris Landing Inn has 130 guest rooms with balconies and a 250-seat restaurant overlooking Kentucky Lake. Paris Landing is a great place to watch bird with some fascinating water birds and bald eagles. For an up-close look at birds of prey, attend one of the interpretive raptor programs offered from April through October on Friday nights in the hotel lobby.
