Modern San Antonio, the state's second largest city with a population of 1.2 million, is a diverse and distinctive metropolis with a mild climate and a rich history. Tourism is a big industry here, and there are a wide variety of attractions beyond the Alamo, including excellent museums, Six Flags and SeaWorld theme parks, and numerous golf resorts. The city is also home to a vibrant arts scene, the nightlife and dining mecca that is the Riverwalk, and a rich history: The Alamo is just one of five Spanish missions along the San Antonio River. Four of these 18th-century missions now compose the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park including the "Queen of the Missions," Mission San Jose and Mission Concepcion (1755), the oldest unrestored stone church in the U.S.
