This small city has plenty to offer visitors from shopping to dining to arts and entertainment. Set on the shores of Lake Champlain, the college town is also home to a culinary institute, offering a wide choice of fine restaurants for all to enjoy. Shoppers can relax in either upscale indoor malls downtown, or stroll the streets that are closed off to traffic to shop among musicians and performers and sit at sidewalk cafes on nice days. The town offers many other lovely walking paths as well as several museums and art galleries. Getting outside the bustle of the little Vermont city, one can find many opportunities for bicycling, hiking, boating, skiing, and other outdoor activities. While in Burlington, be sure to at least peek at the lake named for the first European settler to see the serpentine beast commonly referred to as "Champ," who has been spotted by others since. Comparisons have been made between these sightings and this lake and the famous Loch Ness in Scotland, and information can be found at local museums.
