Mad River Valley

Free Travel Deals Newsletter
Busiest during the winter ski season and with summer tourists trying to beat the heat and bustle of the nearby cities, the Mad River Valley is lovely to visit any time of year. The average skier and anyone with a snowboard goes to Sugarbush, while the advanced and more adventurous try out Mad River Glen, where the motto is "ski it if you can." Across the valley visitors can find snowmobiles for rent or trips for hire. For those not so interested in winter sports, the Mad River Valley is home to the Appalachian Mountains' Long Trail, made famous by the microbrewery located nearby. Hikers can take this track past Camel's Hump mountain, or find many other good trails in the area. Canoe and kayak trips are found throughout the region, as well as horseback adventures, golfing, bicycling, horse-drawn rides, and plenty of other outdoor adventures. The region also offers a surprising array of fine dining, not to mention the selection of cozy Bed & Breakfasts to snuggle up in at the end of an active day.
