Rolling landscapes rise to small mountains, with Middlebury Gap cutting a scenic road through them that challenges cyclists. An excellent historical museum, a Morgan horse farm, a brewery and miles of scenic back roads keep visitors busy. Not far from Middlebury is Lake Dunmore, with a state park and a waterfall. Above the lake rises the Moosalamo Recreation Area, miles of wilderness with hiking trails.
