At the top, the road winds among giant boulders before dropping into the valley of the Lamoille River, passing Smugglers Notch Resort, a ski and summer retreat that has been named the top family vacation resort in America. Year-round recreation includes hiking, swimming, tennis, paddle sports, horseback riding and a variety of other sports and learning experiences for all ages. Three dramatic waterfalls – Bingham, Moss Glen, and Sterling – are reached by short, level hikes.
