Overview
Woodstock is one of Vermont’s most attractive towns with its covered bridge and traditional village green surrounded by distinguished buildings. Its main street is lined with small shops and galleries, testifying to the wealthy summer visitors it has always attracted. Families will especially love the Billings Farm & Museum, an operating dairy farm featuring the Jersey herd, calf nursery, draft horse teams, sheep, and oxen. The restored 1890 Farm House has demonstrations and programs about early farm life and skills, and other buildings house museum exhibits and demonstrations of seasonal farm skills. Woodstock is known for its chic shops, boutiques and galleries, most of which are open year round. On a hillside above the farm is the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, with the family’s mansion open for guided tours may—October and the formal gardens below it in bloom throughout the season. The surrounding park's 20 miles of trails and carriage roads are open year-round for hiking and horseback riding in the spring, summer, and fall. Woodstock has four Paul Revere bells.
